Angels is my personal favorite out of all the Dead End Kids films. I love the character of Rocky and the way the kids look up to him so much. Not to mention the fact that I love Cagney! But the movie itself was really good because of the way the kids are being pulled in both directions -- Rocky turning them onto his way of life (whether intentional or not) and the priest trying to make them good. Plus there are some funny parts in there, such as the basketball scene. Overall, Angels is a good mix of drama and a little comedy.

I favor Angels With Dirty Faces & Dead End equally well. Both movies were very successful & made a strong impact in 1937 & 1938. Both films were excellent & extremely well done. Both movies are all time classics & forever a part of cinematic history. Out of the 6 films the Dead End Kids appeared in these 2 were the most significant & memorable. But Dead End was the original classic that inspired & started it all. Angels With Dirty Faces was the only follow up that really measured up.

I agree to some extent. I think Angels is superior to all Dead End Kids films.

Angels With Dirty Faces & Dead End both impacted me when I first saw these films but I will admit that "Angels" packs a little more punch & knocked me out even more than Dead End & I saw that first before "Angels". To this day Cagney's electric chair scene still moves me regardless of how many times I've seen the movie. I've lost count. Cagney was more intense than Bogart.

Yes! I love both Cagney and Bogart but Cagney is by far my favorite and by far the best!!!! That electric chair scene chills me!
